Sleep Little Angels
Sweet Rumbles of Heaven’s Tiny Thunders
Pawpaws Little Angels, Gracie, Luna, and Rosie Zip-Zooming
Now there came a Day above when the granddaughters of Pawpaw — full of much-dos and always-beens — sped throughout the great Heaven, squealing with delight, shouting with exuberance, and showering God with praises of much exhilaration, from one side to the other.
So the bright little clarions trumpeted here and there, and anywheres and everywheres; were then and now, and even arounds and abouts. For they were full of too much joy and inspirations, and their romping hearts were their playful thunders.
Behind them were trailings, glitterings, sparklings, poppings, and even bubbles raining down from their beautiful archings.
At the sight, the little children of God cried and cheered and praised the Lord, capturing the attentions of all. Such gigglings and happyings burst forth from the blessed holy ones — shouts of joys and lovings and dear prayings — full of kissings, huggings, and snugglings.
So great and precious was this joy that the Christ of the Most Holy God rushed to cradle their hearts.
So precious was the moment that the hosts of Heaven were silent. But seeing and hearing, they then roared out—one over the other, the hosts on the lefts and rights, shouting in praise and making such a holy commotion! A flurry, an epidemic, of too much adoration — and then a lot more.
The happy little cherubs, Gracie, Luna, and Rosie, stopped their holy play with much astonishment. Before they could discuss the happening, those below shouted for them to please continue!
They looked at one another for a moment and did resume and restart; but instead of arches, they spiraled and chased one another faster and brighter, cackling and exploding with joyful felicity.
Oh, precious angels, so tiny and small, don’t you know that your purity does teach even the ancient lights?
Now all that Day, the tiny little wonder‑sparkle‑pops zipped and zoomed and boomed, much to the joyful commotions below.
Then the Christ of God called to them, for otherwise they surely would have continued until the end of Days. Or at least until they had worn themselves out.
And their names He did call: “Gracie! Luna! Rosie!”
Down they came, still giggling, still sparkling, and still carrying enough wonder‑pops to light up this part of Heaven.
And the Christ of God awarded just for them the really, truly, now-official Hugs of Heavenly Little Ladies, and appointed unto them the cherished Snuggles of Faithful Fidelities. These were the awards and appointments that could be felt and kept and held forever inside by all who were blessed to witness them.
Upon the finish, the little holy ones — the children of Heaven — were so stirred up that they imitated the play of the three little valiants and made a living tree of light around them, forming loving branches and covering leaves with bursting fruits of glory, wrapping the three little cherubs in a canopy of holy affection.
An iridescent, marvelous tree, full of color and spirit and wonder, shining like a newborn star.
And the Christ of God, the Beauty of God, looked upon them all and smiled.
And of course, the holy angels did what we all do with children who too much did play: they serenaded them with the very best of lullabies.
And from the holy angels of God sprang forth songs of comfort and peace, so that all the holy little children did soon reside in sleep — each and every single one with smiles of sure contentment and dreams of holy unique.
In the Sacred Silence — the most holy and deepest praise of quiet — the Holiest of Angels precisely and gently gathered up the precious little ones and bedded them into their clouds complete.
The Christ of God touched each one with a kiss, a pat, a hug here and there — the solidarity of Communion, the carapace of Compassion, the seal of Love.
Of course, it did not take much inquiry to determine the inspirative origin of this pious inspirey.
And so all of Heaven looked down upon Pawpaw — those who were awake, that is.
Now Pawpaw, at the time, was up to his usual reading and studying of the Word Most Holy, believing His Lord more than most, more than because, and more than “who knows?”
For he was bowed in prayer when an angel appeared, and he saw the angel's toes.
Before he looked up, he tested faithfully:
“Good gracious, tell me true: Is Jesus Christ come in the flesh?”
And the angel smiled and confessed,
“Why yes, and for sure! Our Lord and Christ has come in the flesh.”
And Pawpaw declared:
“His ultimate sacrifice He did make,
out of true love,
a choice so great.”
And the angel expounded to Pawpaw all that his little angels in Heaven had made to transpire.
Pawpaw listened, and then his face brightened.
“That’s my girls!” he did proclaim.
“A commotion and clatter I did not seek. My only request was to give my love to Him I hold so dear.”
High in the heavens, three little angel girls — his little cherubs — slept peacefully in the comforting hand of the Only Love.
Full of angelic dreams, all so sweet.
Such innocent smiles as are only found upon the shores of the Living Waters, where true inspiration comes gently upon the soul and baptized convocations gather in their sacred slumber.
Rest in the Lord, our dear little ones.
And the whispers of the Beauty of God came down upon them, tender blessings of assured and forever belonging.
For the soft and caring eyes of God’s anointed are upon them, and in His eyes are their reflections.
And such a consummate knowing — not only of their little faces, halos, and wings, but of their minds and souls and spirits, and of their little hearts and smiles, all together and inside — a love beyond and besides.
Now Pawpaw said to the angel, with a bit of concern:
“What will happen when they wake? For surely they will do such things all over again.”
And the angel said with a smile,
“We all pray that they do.”
And… wouldn’t you just know it?
They did.
